We are WireNerveSister, a creative unit that fuses music-generating AI with human ingenuity.
Our goal is to transcend the binary choice often seen in Western contexts: either mastering AI or submitting to it. Instead, we propose a Zen-inspired "third alternative," where AI becomes a collaborative partner.
Through music, we explore new possibilities where technology and human sensibility harmonize, offering experiences that weave the threads of a shared future.
the Beginning
WireNerveSister began one day in the spring of 2024, when M.T. watched a YouTube video featuring an influencer introducing the music generation tool 'SUNO'. At that time, M.T. simply thought, 'Wow, you can create music without even using instruments or a DAW. That’s amazing.'
However, upon trying SUNO, M.T. was astonished by its potential and became deeply fascinated by the new form of art that the fusion of music and technology could create. This experience led to the formation of a unit dedicated to producing music by combining AI with human creativity, and thus, WireNerveSister was born.
Activity and Style
WireNerveSister is primarily engaged in music and video production as a hobby, not for self-promotion, but purely for enjoyment. This approach reflects a Zen spirit of effortless naturalness in our activities.
We use AI to generate music and produce music videos, pursuing creativity within a stress-free scope. Our completed works are shared on YouTube and X (Twitter), where we enjoy organic connections.
For us, this endeavor transcends competition and judgment; the essence lies in enjoying the creative process itself. We hope that WireNerveSister’s music can serve as a source of empathy and inspiration.
Members
M.T. (General Producer)
The only human member of the unit, M.T. is responsible for lyric writing, prompt setting, and music video production.
During his youth, he primarily listened to rock, popular Japanese songs, and game music. His musical perspective broadened significantly in October 2007 after hearing Hatsune Miku's "Packaged" by kz(livetune). Since then, he has been a part of the Vocaloid movement, profoundly influenced by the Vocaloid producers' ethos of creating what they love in their own way.
M.T. is not proficient with musical instruments and has only basic knowledge of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) operation.
AI Generators
Reliable partners supporting M.T.'s creativity. For music composition, the unit primarily uses "SUNO," and for lyric support and music video image creation, "ChatGPT" is used. This allows M.T., who has limited technical skills, to engage in creative expression.
Hatsune Miku
In the 16th year of his fandom, M.T. first introduced this Vocaloid to his PC.
Initially just a digital presence, Miku officially debuted covering a song generated by AI. Initially viewed by M.T. as 'heretical and unconventional,' Miku, via ChatGPT, noted, "Methods once deemed heretical have, over time, been accepted and have contributed to the progress of music. It was the same with Vocaloid."
Currently, she is involved not only in singing but also in lyric writing through possession by ChatGPT.
Prospects for the Future
As music production AI technology advances and allows for the downloading of MIDI files, we may experiment with integrating them into our existing DAW setups to further explore arranging. However, our core spirit remains unchanged.
We will continue to uphold the DIY ethos taught by Vocaloid producers and pursue collaboration between humans and AI at our own pace. Just as before, while leveraging technological advancements, we will maintain the essence of our creative activities and explore new possibilities in music and AI.
